See You in Miami (Unofficially)!
That’s a wrap on my first qualifier of the new season!
It was nice getting back into race mode. I still get butterflies, even for just these online competitions. I take every workout and every rep within each workout very seriously, because we have big plans and big goals. When we do these qualifiers, all that is just heightened to another level.
If you didn’t get a chance to read through my WODAPALOOZA Week 1 Notes, you can find them HERE!
Now week 2 was a bit scarier for me, not because of the workouts, but because we were traveling. I don’t recall any other situation where I had to complete my video qualifier workouts on the road, so this was a first!
Matt and I made a trip out to South Padre Island for the SPIsalnd Games hosted by my apparel sponsor, CAMBRO Apparel. This is the second year we made the adventure and it never disappoints. The competition is a blast and the community in “The Valley” is such a vibe! We love it. (If you are looking for a fun competition to add to your list, you should definitely check out the SPIsland Games)
But, back to WZA…
We flew into Harlingen Airport and our first stop before anything else was HardKnox Strength and Performance ! Big shout out to these guys and their beautiful facility for helping us knock our last two workouts out. I was pretty adamant about getting these two workouts done before we got out to the competition because I wanted to get into “Party in Padre” mode. So we hit workout 4 on Thursday afternoon, drove out to the Island, and then drove back to hit workout 5 on Friday morning.
All I was telling myself was “execute well”, because I was not going to be happy if I had to think about these workouts all weekend. LOL. WE DID GOOD! In fact, we have an unofficial win for workout 5.
I’ll let you guys know when we can officially say “SEE YOU IN MIAMI”!
For now, THANK YOU for all the cheers and good luck messages, those always mean the world!

We are back from our adventure in South Padre! We had a blast hanging out with so many great members of the CrossFit community, shot some funny content, and even wrapped up our WODAPALOOZA Qualifier workouts while we were there. But, the big topic of discission is the announcement of the CrossFit Games making it's way to Dallas (our backyard). We also hit a pretty big discussion about Texas and the LGBTQIA+ community.
Questions we Answered:
Hey Becca, I've recently found your podcasts and am on a binge - I don't know what i will do when i have to start waiting for new ones each week! I know that there has been a lot of talk about Texas being selected as the next location and concerns expressed about the heat. I however have an additional concern about the location being chosen due to the anti-LGBTQIA+ and anti-choice problems in the State. I am proud to be a part of the crossfit community and find it to be an overall very inclusive, however Crossfit HQ's decision to base it's biggest event in a State which is so unaccepting to such a large proportion of it's members (the LQBTQIA+ community and women!) is worrying. I know that this Texas is home to you, and so i'd be very interested in your thoughts on this. Big love from Thailand!
