You guys know him and we all love him! He’s the one and only BLITZ the Best Boy!

If you’ve ever wondered if BLITZ is a crazy as he seems on all the IG videos, the answer is, YES! He’s a wild boy and loves to live the crazy gym life here at BOLT! To this day, we still ponder how bored we must have been before we had the wild creature running the town with us.

Way back in 2019, Matt had started taking about possibly getting a dog. To understand the full story you have to know, Matt is very thoughtful and runs through every scenario before pulling the trigger on a decision, and I am not. I will jump head first into my next idea/plan, so telling me we might be getting a dog is dangerous. I want all the dogs! They are the best!

So obviously the next question is, “what kind of dog are we looking for?” I honestly do not know how Matt fell in love with BLITZ’s breed (German Wire Hair Pointer), nor had I even heard of his breed before. I knew German short Hair Pointers are pretty popular dogs, but I never knew of these crazy haired versions.

Being that we live the gym life, there were definitely a couple requirements we had:

  1. We needed to train a puppy from the get go because it was going to be at our place of business.

  2. We really didn’t want a dog that shed a ton and left hair all over the gym.

Put those couple requirements in the machine and…BLOOP… you get a BLITZ!

At this point in our story, we still don’t have him yet. Matt had his eyes out and was following a couple Facebook pages that had breeders that sold GWPs. For a while, we didn’t have much luck on finding our friend without having to travel across the country. Until…

A Sunday a my parents house where we all making dinner, Matt ran across a Facebook post that said some folks we traveling through our area the next day, asking if anyone was interested in adopting their GWP pups. It felt like it was meant to be. Matt, being more leery than I, said “umm. I don’t know” and me being more spontaneous than Matt, said “don’t miss this opportunity”.

We messaged the owners and said “we’ll pick him up tomorrow!” To this day, Matt still talks about their first truck ride together and the first place BLITZ every went to with us was BOLT. He’s been running this place ever since!

He wakes up every morning ready to rock and eager to greet all of his BOLT peeps at the door (sometimes with a few extra hugs/jumps and kisses)! Nothing gets him hyped like the Thunder Clap (be careful! If you say the magic words and he’s around you might get attacked). And on our hot summer days you’ll usually find him sitting with some friends in front of the fan.

On top of all of his craziness, BLITZ is very smart! He learns new tricks very fast and will listen to you very well, acknowledging you with the famous head tilts.

If you do visit BOLT one day and you can’t find BLITZ a good place to check is our BOLT forest. Sometimes he’s busy hopping around in there, chasing bunnies and hunting Earl the Squirrel.
