Pure RECKLESSNESS!

Do The Class Workouts!

I do class workouts. I am not better than them.

I am running across so many questions and comments about athletes feeling lost and/or confined into a group when it comes to their training.

Honest truth. This makes me so sad and frustrated that 1.) people feel that their rank depends on the workouts they do and 2.) can’t be around athletes that are “better” or “worse” than them.

There’s something magical about being next to other people on the same mission as you. There is something about going through hardship TOGETHER that helps you create a more open perspective on what others might be experiencing in life.

It’s Respect.

When you work hard and sweat next to others whether they are doing Bar Muscle Ups or Hanging knee raises, you gain mad respect for them. Maybe you cycle a 135lb. barbell and the older lady next to you cycles a 55lb. on today’s workout. You both hit the workout with intensity and finish on your back. I promise you will gain mad respect for each other. It will open your eyes to what other are going through and what they are brining to this world. It will bring us closer.

The class workout is not too easy for you.

Just like we scale new athletes to simpler variations and lighter weights, you can scale your weights up and raise the difficulty of the skills you do, if you think the workout is soooooo easyyyyy.

Or just actually hit it with intensity this time… ;)

Pure RECKLESSNESS!

Sometimes when we are coaching athletes and we see a fault, an approach we might take is an “exaggeration cue”.

Hi! I’m Rebecca and most of you guys reading this newsletter know me from social media and the ridiculous posts I put on IG or YouTube. It feels good to have found a way to show that side of me and my personality because, FUN FACT, I’m actually an Introvert. I’m pretty quiet when it come to the day by day routine, I like/need my alone time, and keep my circle of peeps pretty small. However, when you get to know me, I’m pretty coo-coo for Cocoa Puffs!

I’m also a very methodical person. You can see it mostly in my training. I get very nit picky about my workouts and my reps I put in each day, to the point where I drive myself crazy if something is off.

I think we all know there is a healthy balance of everything. We teeter-totter back and forth over this line too much of “this” and too little of “that”.

Just this week I was correcting one of our athletes on their Snatch. This athlete was extending back with shoulders behind the bar, cause her to heave the bar forward, which created a rainbow-like bar-path (aka. not efficient). I then told her to “cut her extension short”, not because that is any better, but because I felt that it was best for her to feel the other side of the spectrum, even if that lead to a miss. She did just that, she cut her extension short, she jumped with her shoulders in front of the bar, but it changed that bar path… so we were on the right track. From there we talked about how to find the sweet spot between those two very different lifts she did.

You try something different, you get a different result, and you gain more knowledge.

RECKLESS, is a word I have sitting in my crazy brain right now. I’m encouraging myself to “think less and DO MORE”, to trust the reps I’ve put in over many years and try something different. I think that will open new doors! If it doesn’t, I’ll go back to the strong foundation we’ve built. Am I talking about lifting weights or life…YES!

Are you an overthinker? Do you spend a lot of time planning each step? If you are/do, GOOD! You need that, but let’s get a little crazy sometimes! Let’s get a little RECKLESS and see what doors we open.

Maybe you are on the other side of the line! Do you start projects and never finish them? Do you feel like you are 0-100 real quick?! If you are /do, GOOD! You need that, but don’t be afraid to slow down and really decide what it is you want!

LET’S BE CRAZY!

Take 2!

Phew! We are already getting better at this thing!

Matt and I took on Episode 2 of the “No Regrets Podcast” (Available on Spotify and Apple Podcasts and YouTube).

Not gonna lie, I was cringing a little hard when we were uploading episode one, I knew we could do better, but I also wanted to respect “the start”! Sometimes the hardest thing to do is get started. After editing episode 1 and watching the first couple minutes of it, I said “let it rip!”. Yah just gotta get started!

All week I was itching to record episode 2. Just like taking a crack at a new skill and sucking at first, I wanted to give it another go. We had a few cues in mind to help us flow through our conversations a little better. It’s fun!

Matt and I have some good conversations, that I hope you all enjoy too. It’s also such a fun way to connect with all of you! We love answering all of your questions and absolutely love digging into some mindset/goal talk with you all!
