Focus on Your Average Self…
The ups and downs are a part of life! We gotta remember that because in the moment, the “highs” feel so good and the “lows” feel terrible. If we were to only focus on those extreme moments, we wouldn’t know what to think of ourselves.
This week, I had a terrible content creating week. I kept asking myself “what is wrong with me” mentally punching myself in the face when videos didn’t go the way I wanted them to and immediately start doubting myself.
On a more positive note, I had a great training week, where I was boosting myself and feeling a lot stronger and more confident than I had been. When these weeks come about I have a lot more energy and spunk when it comes to being in the gym.
Now, I don’t know when they’ll come about, but there will be weeks in the future where roles are reversed. I’ll have some fantastic content creating weeks and some hard training weeks because … THAT’S LIFE.
I believe when we can get better at appreciating the “average moments” like having good days (not great or terrible days) and not get too up in our heads about those extreme days, we will appreciate the ride so much more!
Now I’m not saying go be average!
We want the GREAT days! Those days bring us so much excitement!
We want the TOUGH days! Those days help us appreciate the good days!
But when we can appreciate that middle ground and not get too “high” and not get too “low”, I believe we will be healthier minded people and being to know how we truly feel about our states of being.
For me, I am going to try to bank those “good” days and have more of those. I think the stress of trying to always bank “great” days, sometimes backfire and the pressure I put on myself creates “bad” days.
I hope when we do find our average selves we air on the side of “I am happy and have a positive outlook on life”. Maybe there’s a case where you aren’t on that side. Just remember we all have the power to start inching our way to the other side… where we want to be.
